About Us
Early Days
Long before V12 Resole existed, we were climbers holding onto old shoes. Even when they were no longer climbable, we found ourselves reluctant to throw them away. Looking around the gym, we realized we weren't alone—many climbers kept retired shoes tucked away in closets, garages, and gear bins.
It wasn't just about the shoes themselves. Each pair carried memories of early projects, breakthrough sends, road trips, and countless hours spent learning and improving. They represented the physical effort of pulling hard on the wall, but also the emotional journey of perseverance, frustration, and accomplishment that comes with climbing.
We began asking a simple question: what if climbing shoes could continue their story instead of ending up in the trash? This idea of reduce and reuse before recycle became the foundation for V12 Resole. What started as a desire to keep beloved climbing shoes alive grew into a mission to make shoe repair more accessible to climbers everywhere.
From Climber to Cobbler
The phrase From Climber to Cobbler represents more than our transition into the world of shoe repair. It also serves as a reminder that every pair of shoes we receive carries a story. Each package that arrives at our workshop is a climber sharing a piece of their journey with us as the cobblers. Whether those shoes have accompanied someone through their first gym session, a long-awaited outdoor project, or years of adventures, we recognize that every pair has earned its wear.
As climbers, we have always appreciated the technical details that make climbing such a rewarding sport. We discovered that resoling shoes requires the same level of attention and craftsmanship. Every pair that arrives at our workshop presents a unique challenge, where no two repairs are exactly alike.
The deeper we got into the craft, the more respect we gained for the art of resoling. We learned to appreciate the nuances of shaping rubber, rebuilding rands, and restoring performance while preserving the character of each shoe. The same curiosity and problem-solving mindset that drew us to climbing became the driving force behind our work as cobblers. Today, we still see ourselves as climbers first. We simply happen to spend our days helping climbing shoes continue their adventures.
Message from the Team
From our workshop in Santa Clara, our small but mighty team works every day to make climbing shoe repair easier, more accessible, and more reliable for the climbing community. While technology continues to transform many industries, there are still no resoling robots. Every pair of shoes that comes through our doors is carefully evaluated, handled, and repaired by real people who care deeply about the outcome.
We understand that climbing shoes are more than equipment. We are especially proud of taking on repairs that others might turn away. Shoes with larger holes, extensive wear, or more complicated damage often require additional creativity and care, but we believe many of them still deserve a second chance. While not every shoe can be saved forever, we are committed to helping as many climbers as possible get the most life out of the gear they already own.
Thank you for sharing your shoes with us and for being part of a community that values craftsmanship, adventure, and sustainability. We look forward to helping your next pair continue its story.
